Arroyo Seco River

10" x 8"
Gouache on cold press board
2024

The scene captures a tranquil moment within the Arroyo Seco River, a tributary of the Los Angeles River that flows through several cities, including Pasadena, Altadena, and La Cañada Flintridge, before merging with the Los Angeles River near Elysian Park. Taken at sunset, the view faces south toward Downtown Los Angeles and features two iconic bridges: the Avenue 64 Bridge (also known as the Marmion Way Bridge), constructed in 1940 by the California State Division of Highways, and the Santa Fe Arroyo Seco Railroad Bridge, built in 1896 by the Southern California Railway. The latter is the tallest and longest railroad span in Los Angeles.

Original artwork by Jimi Martinez, created in the plein air style of painting—a practice that involves producing a finished piece outdoors while capturing the natural light, color, and movement of the subject in real time. This is an original artwork; no prints are available. The piece can be purchased online and is available for local pick-up or delivery within Los Angeles County. Domestic and international shipping is available upon request, with additional charges for packaging and shipping.

For shipped artwork, please allow 2–3 days for processing. Local deliveries are typically processed within two days.
