Celebrating Art, Music, and Community

The Eclectic Music Festival and Arts Crawl is a free, family-friendly event produced by the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, with support from the City of South Pasadena, generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers. Scheduled from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the event takes place throughout the historic South Pasadena downtown business district on Mission Street, stretching from Fair Oaks to Meridian. This lively celebration features multiple live music stages, artisan and vintage vendors, a beer and wine garden, interactive activities, a kids zone, and much more. Restaurants, cafes, and businesses throughout the area, including Jones Coffee Roasters, will showcase local artists in conjunction with the festivities.

S7CAG, in collaboration with Jones Coffee Roasters, is proud to present a curated group exhibition highlighting both local and regional talent. Inside the cafe, guests can view medium- to large-format visual artwork by Jimi Martinez, Patrick Haemmerlein, Jung Ji “Masa” Lee, and Robert Sherrill. In the patio area, attendees will find booths hosted by artists Anna Léger-Hawks, Jennifer Nightingale, and Lynn Warnesky-Baker, along with smaller format artwork and hand-crafted pieces by Jung Ji “Masa” Lee, Robert Sherrill, and Jimi Martinez.

Meet the Artists

Get to know the talented artists featured in the group exhibition at Jones Coffee Roasters, presented in conjunction with The Eclectic Music Festival and Arts Crawl. Each artist brings a unique perspective and style to the show—ranging from plein air painting and mixed media collage to abstract work, character design, and handcrafted ceramics. Below is a brief introduction to the creative minds behind the work on view, offering insight into their inspirations, backgrounds, and artistic practices.

Jimi Martinez

South Pasadena resident Jimi Martinez is a freelance illustrator and professor of illustration. A 2013 graduate of ArtCenter College of Design—a prestigious private art university in Pasadena—Martinez specializes in capturing the familiar landscapes and quiet moments of everyday life. His work often highlights recognizable landmarks in South Pasadena and nearby communities, rendered with a sensitivity that reflects the true character of each scene.

The artwork featured in this exhibition was created en plein air, a painting technique in which artists complete their work outdoors, responding directly to the natural light, color, and atmosphere of their surroundings. This particular collection was painted primarily in 2024 using gouache on cold press board, emphasizing Martinez’s ability to portray the nuanced rhythms and moods of a place in real time

Patrick Haemmerlein

Originally from Kinderhook, New York, Patrick Haemmerlein earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2000 before settling in Los Angeles. Once here, he began obsessively photographing the city—its architecture, infrastructure, and fleeting moments. Over time, this documentary impulse evolved into a distinct visual language. Patrick began manipulating his photographs, printing them on a large-scale blueprint printer, and layering them onto wood panels. Incorporating found artifacts—such as sheet music, discarded books, and paint—he reconstructs the emotion and energy of each scene.

Los Angeles serves as both muse and medium in Patrick’s work. Through a mixture of urban imagery and natural elements, his pieces explore the tension and harmony between the built environment and the wild, untamed beauty that coexists within it. Vivid splashes of color punctuate his compositions, capturing the contradictions and connections between city life and the surrounding natural world. Each piece becomes a timeless, tactile ode to a city he continually rediscovers

Jung Ji “Masa” Lee

When asked about the motivation behind his work, Jung Ji "Masa" Lee explains:

“Kondomozo and Ubume are two characters I invented. They serve as my surrogate self—a synthesis of Korean and Japanese cultures, a metaphor for the meeting of opposites, and the border that separates them. While one may interpret these characters as reflections of various ideas and aesthetics specific to Asian experiences and identities, Kondomozo and Ubume are primarily a response to the racism I faced as a biracial person.

I wanted to create a creature that is culturally flexible and personifies self-acceptance. The universe that Kondomozo and Ubume inhabit is constructed from conscious and subconscious drawings, doodles, text, and maps. The palette is inspired by cave paintings. Their simple shape is repeated and juxtaposed against a chaotic, drawn environment.

I believe that everyone perceives themselves—in some way—as a minority of sorts. It is my hope that Kondomozo and Ubume may act as ambassadors of ‘otherness,’ allowing people of all backgrounds to feel at home with them or curious about them.

Robert Sherrill

As a Southern California artist, Robert Sherrill portrays the majestic beauty of the natural world around him. Whether working in watercolor or oil, his paintings capture the effects of light, shape, and color with a sense of wonder and vitality.

Raised in Southern California, Sherrill immersed himself in nature, art, and science from a young age. Constantly drawing, painting, and journaling, he always knew that observing and studying the world around him would be a lifelong pursuit. He began taking his education more seriously at Riverside Community College, which led to a position as a draftsman and artist at an architecture firm. This experience inspired him to further his artistic training at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, where he graduated in 1990.

Sherrill has since worked as an illustrator, backdrop artist, and art director. Over the last three decades, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Southern California, earning multiple awards and publishing two books. His work reflects a profound appreciation for the natural environment, offering viewers a visual celebration of the landscapes that have long inspired him.

Anna Léger-Hawks

Anna holds a Bachelor's degree in Studio Arts from California State University, Los Angeles, and has spent the past decade teaching art at substance abuse recovery facilities. Her passion for using art as a healing tool is reflected in both her practice and her pedagogy.

Her current body of work draws inspiration from music, movement, and graffiti. This series, in particular, has been a joyful and meditative creative outlet for her. Each piece invites viewers to engage their imagination and discover hidden imagery within the abstract forms—a concept known as pareidolia, which she references in all her titles.

Created using acrylic paint and metallic markers on stretched canvas, her works are often described as reminiscent of stained-glass windows. Bold, rhythmic, and contemplative, Anna’s paintings reflect her desire to create beauty that sparks curiosity, reflection, and personal interpretation

Lynn Warnesky-Baker

Lynn Warnesky-Baker’s journey into pottery began with a birthday gift—a single wheel-throwing class that sparked an interest, grew into a passion, and ultimately transformed into a second career. The gift, given by her husband, turned out to be life-changing. Within minutes of sitting at the wheel, Lynn was hooked. She quickly enrolled in additional classes, diving into everything from wheel-throwing and hand-building to creating tiny beads and hollow donut planters.

What began as a hobby soon evolved into a dream, and eventually into Lynn Warnesky-Baker (LWB) Pottery. Her recent focus has been on designing donut planters using techniques like sgraffito and sprigging, often drawing inspiration from nature while also incorporating abstract and tribal motifs.

Among her most popular pieces are her Mountain Mugs. To achieve their signature sandstone effect, Lynn kneads together different clays before throwing them on the wheel—each mug becoming a unique tribute to the textures and tones of the natural world.
